A few weeks back we did some camping and fishing out near York, PA in the Gifford-Pinchot State Park. The park is nice and well kept out near Amish country here in Pennsylvania. Lake Pinchot is the fishery of choice here. It is a warm water system and designated a Big Bass lake with some solid reports floating around out on the internets. The Wissahickon Creek runs through Philadelphia's vast Fairmount Park. This creek is a great reprieve from the confines of the city and is only about a 20 minute drive from downtown...assuming light traffic, which may be wishful thinking. A tributary of the Schuylkill river, this creek is stocked with trout but also has lots of natives in its depths as well. Favorite Fishing Spots, French Creek State Park, Lake Hopewell -

Lake Hopewell is located in Pennsylvania's French Creek State Park just south of Birdsboro, PA. This is a warm water system that is around 68 acres, so it is ideal for a canoe or kayak as you can cover the whole thing pretty easily in a day. There are a couple of islands that offer some great hiding spots for bass or a quick break from the summer sun.
