Lake Hopewell is located in Pennsylvania's French Creek State Park just south of Birdsboro, PA. This is a warm water system that is around 68 acres, so it is ideal for a canoe or kayak as you can cover the whole thing pretty easily in a day.
There are a couple of islands that offer some great hiding spots for bass or a quick break from the summer sun. The lake is located centrally within the 7,500 acre park and the forest comes right up to the edges, so there is an abundance of structure from downed trees and overhanging root systems.
Largemouth bass and muskellunge call this lake home. A dam at the northern tip offers depth, while the southern tip is fairly shallow where Scott's Run feeds in. The changing depths give resident bass and muskie safe havens year-round.
The lake has a boat rental stand and ample parking. The boats are well kept and can be rented with an electric trolling motor or oars. There are also canoes and a few other water craft available for rent at reasonable rates.
